Best Dental Implants Surgery in Mumbai

Dental implants are the most advanced and permanent solution for missing teeth. The procedure involves placing a small, screw-like titanium implant into the gums, which functions as an artificial tooth root — providing a stable foundation for a natural-looking replacement tooth.

The entire procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes. Once the implant is placed, the final prosthesis is given within a few weeks. Dental Implants are biocompatible with the human body. Placement of dental implants in the site of missing teeth gives the feel of natural teeth inside the mouth. It makes chewing and speaking comfortable, just like our original teeth.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Most of the time, there is insufficient space in the mouth for the wisdom tooth to erupt completely. It often grows in the wrong direction, partially erupts, or comes out in improper alignment compared to other teeth in the oral cavity.

Due to difficulty in cleaning and recurrent food lodgement around the wisdom tooth, it tends to get infected easily. Hence, it’s a wise decision to extract the wisdom tooth when it starts causing discomfort or pain.

Cyst and Tumour

Dental cysts and tumors are specific types of lesions that occur in the jaws, often due to impacted teeth, long-standing jaw pathologies, or sometimes unknown causes. Some dental cysts are also classified as tumors based on their severity and histological classification.

These growths are usually noncancerous (benign), but in some cases, they can become aggressive, invading surrounding bone and tissue, and may even displace teeth.

Treatment Options:
The surgical approach for jaw cysts and tumors depends on the type, stage, and symptoms of the lesion. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons typically treat these conditions through surgery, though in certain cases, medical therapy or a combination of both may be recommended for optimal results.

Most Common Types of Jaw Cysts and Tumors

Ameloblastoma:
A relatively common, slow-growing, and usually noncancerous (benign) tumor that typically develops in the jaw near the molars. It can invade local bone and soft tissue and has a tendency to recur after treatment. However, aggressive surgical intervention can significantly reduce the chance of recurrence.

Dentigerous Cyst:
Originating from the tissue surrounding an unerupted tooth, this is the most common cyst affecting the jaws. It frequently occurs around partially erupted wisdom teeth, though it can also affect other teeth.

Odontogenic Keratocyst:
Also known as a keratocystic odontogenic tumor due to its tumor-like recurrence tendency, this slow-growing but locally destructive cyst usually develops in the lower jaw near the third molars. It may also appear in individuals with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (Gorlin-Goltz syndrome).

There are many other types of jaw cysts and tumors, but the ones discussed above are the most commonly encountered and typically require surgical management for effective treatment.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Full Mouth Rehabilitation pertains to the restoration and maintenance of oral function, appearance, comfort and dental health of the patient by the restoration of a natural tooth and/or the replacement of missing teeth and contiguous oral and maxillofacial tissues with artificial substitutes.

This treatment is usually advised for patients with multiple dental problems like missing teeth, loss of vertical height (loss of tooth structure on the biting surface), and decay. Proper dental care is given to almost every tooth to achieve a balanced, functionally comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing dentition. The patients who need this treatment are mostly 45 years and above.

Zygoma Implants

Zygomatic implants have been documented as an alternative for the rehabilitation of the atrophic posterior maxilla using both the classical two-stage and immediate loading protocols.

They avoid grafting and sinus lift procedures, making the treatment shorter and more comfortable.
Further indications include failed conventional implant placement, failed sinus augmentation or grafting procedures, and rehabilitation after tumor or trauma resections.

In the atrophic posterior maxilla, generally one zygomatic implant is placed on each side of the maxilla, combined with 2–4 conventional implants in the anterior region.
For a totally resorbed maxilla, when anterior implants aren’t possible, two additional zygomatic implants (Quad Zygoma) can be inserted in a more anterior position.

Zygomatic implants are usually immediately loaded with a fixed bridge.
Dr. Tofiq Bohra, trained in Zygomatic Implant placement, has vast experience rehabilitating cancer patients who’ve lost their upper jaw due to resection.
He is known for meticulous planning and consistent results, providing patients a full set of upper teeth when conventional implant options fail.

In cases where sinus proximity prevents conventional implant placement, Zygomatic Implants are the best solution.
